So Little Time

What to sew next? I want to make another simple tee with this cotton lawn.

But I have only one month to finish the border challenge below and have it ready for the vote at the October quilt meeting. I have the quilt pinned. I want to hand quilt it with big stitches. I have bought lots of colors of pearl cotton. Do I have time?

We will see.
Stay tuned for photos of progress.

Unfinished Challenge

My quilt group has a year long challenge to finish UFOs. I listed 5 that I wanted to finish this year.
I finished the last 2 this week end!

This is the flimsy of my trip around the world lap quilt.
I had only sewed a few strips together before this month.

I finished this patriotic triangle lap quilt with scrap batting and stash binding and border.
I think I bought the backing for this quilt but it has been so long in my stash that it should
count as stash, too.

The quilting is simple straight lines down the length.

Here is the finished quilt. This is going to baby Lily. She is my cousin's first grandbaby.
I know Nancy would have loved spoiling her.
I am calling the quilt Peace Around the World. One of the fabrics has peace signs all over it.

The backing fabric has a cute dog in a taxi going to sights in NYC.

Two UFOs in the finished column.

Yea!

September Color Challenge

September's color is red violet. I choose three fat quarters because I wasn't sure my stash had much of this color. I made the free pattern and my usual easy block.

The block on the left is my favorite of all the blocks offered this year.
I could see making more in the larger size.

Linky party is back from summer break

Since I have very few followers, I really missed linking up on Fridays through the summer.
Now Amanda Jean is back with her linky party once a month and I am ready to share my summer sewing. If you have checked in over the summer, thanks!

Most recent finishes first.
Four little dresses for Ava.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears in their own tote bag.

Birthday Ready

This long week end I was busy sewing for Ava's birthday. I wanted to try out two new patterns.
Here are four dresses made from the two patterns.

The short dresses are cotton knit. Earlier in the summer I made a top and shorts from the fabric and had enough left to make the flowered knit dress and the pink knit dress.

The longer dresses are made from quilting cotton fabric. The pattern is very quilter friendly. The pieces are cut out with rotary cutter.

Mr. M suggested that Goldilocks and the Three Bears needed a tote bag.
I bought some of the coordinating fabric and made this bag and one of the dresses above.

Peek-a-boo, Ava!

More snaps of the dress.

I hope the dresses fit. It is hard sewing long distance.
We will see if they fit this Saturday.

Just waiting for the books that will be the rest of the birthday present.

Inside the bag.

This is the pattern that I used for the two longer dresses.

Now I need to work on some quick baby quilts.
