Ava's Birthday

Baby Ava will be two in a couple of weeks. I made her the bear family and Goldilocks from a printed panel. She has a similar Little Red Riding Hood that I made for her when she was very little.

My skills at making stuffed dolls and animals has improved.

The skirts were fairly easy to make.

The backs are cute, too.

I left Papa Bear's outfit for last. It seemed more complicated.

All finished. Papa Bear has shorts and a bow tie.
Hope Ava has fun with these.

Next a couple of quick dresses for her. Look for future posts.

August Color Challenge

Here are my August Color Challenge blocks. I thought there would be more contrast in the one on the left. I guess I need to work on my skills at picking out the shades or tones in a color way.

Here are all eight of my alternate blocks. Only four colors to go.
I have an idea for how I want to put the blocks together.
We will see how that works when all the blocks are finished.

Linking with challenge group.

Back to School - Last Summer Project

A couple of weeks ago on the way to a conference in Austin, Texas, we took a short detour to Stitchin Heaven Quilt Shop. I have bought fabric from them and done block of the month by mail but never visited the store. I bought two fat quarters and some coordinating fabric for baby gifts.

The fabric was from the same line with cute baby animals.
I bought a half yard of pink and blue and a yard of green. Mr. M. helped me pick out the right shade of blue. There were so many choices and his color sense is better than mine.

The first baby 9 patch is finished. My final summer project.
Here is a close up of the print.

The corners are pink because this one is for a girl.
There was enough pink for binding, too.

I found a bee fabric for the back at Stitch N Frame. They were having their big summer sale.

Back to school. Sewing only on week ends now.
