I had so much fun with these scraps. I have strips of various chenille, minky, and flannel fabrics from backs of baby quilts. I saw an interesting baby quilt that had squares of chenille framed with cute baby fabric and knew what I could do with some of my scraps.
I cut 5 1/2 inch squares of minky dots, chenille, flannel, and one piece of canvas. I cut strips of buggy fabric and other fabrics I used in baby buggy 9 patch. After framing 13 squares I ran out of that fabric. I found another buggy fabric in my fat quarter stash and finished 3 more to make 16 framed touchy feely blocks.
The canvas square seemed too plain, so I added rickrack.
The yellow flannel needed something, so I appliquéd a bug on it. (and I hate appliqué)
Susan gave me some fabric that she bought at a second hand shop. It is Thimbleberries and was perfect. I tried different binding colors and decided orange was the best match. It was leftover from some pillows.
Here are the two baby quilts. I bought new fabric for the giant 9 patch and had enough left to make the framed touchy feely quilt. All scraps!
So much fun! Now somebody have a baby.
