A Hat for Me

After crocheting hats for the babies for Christmas, I was inspired to to crochet myself a hat. I like variegated yarn and found this in some of my favorite colors.

I searched online for an easy pattern and found several.
Then I started crocheting.

I bought two skeins because I wasn't sure how much it would take to make a hat for my big head.

Then, I went off the pattern. I have a problem following directions and also counting stitches and rows. So, this hat is my own version of the original. It fits and can be sort of beret-like.

We had our annual freezing weather last weekend. It is in the 70's today. I may not get to wear my hat this winter but it was fun making it.

Several quilt projects in the works. Will share soon.
What have you finished in 2017?

New Year Decisions

Went to my UFOs and found these blocks. I want to add some borders.

Above are some stash fabrics I pulled. The blocks were made from a layer cake, so I don't have any more of those fabrics.

I like this cream with music because the back will be cream minky dots.

Here is the original piece. It is only 36" by 45".

Yesterday we had sleet and rain that turned to ice. A rare sight in central Mississippi.

This is passing for snow in our world. Today is going to be cold and the roads are icy, so I'm staying inside and sewing. Hope the power doesn't go out.

Happy New Year!
