Finished Polka dot princess top

As a parting gift after 25+ years at my school, I was given a gift card to a local fabric store. I bought several girly pieces to make a qwillow for baby girl. This is the finished top.

Here is the focus fabric up close. Not sure about the 'happily ever after' sentiment but love the princess in the polka dot castle with little green frogs all around. Next step is to add the batting and back and the pocket for turning the quilt into a pillow. Not sure how I'm going to quilt it since the quilting is done after the three layers are sewn together and turned. Guess we'll wait and see.

Below is a trial layout of some 4 patch squares I made from mostly Good Neighbors layer cake. I picked out all the gray and pink from two sets and quickly sewed them up into 4 patches. I took this photo to check on the arrangement of the squares. One square is missing because mom wanted it to show a young girl she is helping learn how to sew.

The 4 patches are super easy to make from layer cake squares. Two ten inch squares make two nine and a half inch 4 patches. Looking at the layout, I'm thinking of changing the pattern. I'll show you some variations next time.
